Piri Reis, the famous captain for Yavuz Sultan Selim, created this map in 1513 in Gelibolu. He presented it in person to Yavuz Sultan Selim while he was in Egypt after a victorious war. The original of this map was done in color on the skin of a deer. Unfortunately, this is only a piece of the original map due to extensive damage to the rest of the map.
