This CD offers an ethereal world of modern sounds and vibrations from the crossroads of civilizations. "East2West" is a compilation that brings together tracks from some of the most daring and bold statements out of İstanbul and includes the cornerstones of jazz and world music traditions. The CD's vision is 'a brand new sound': from sufi-electronica to groove alla turca, from jazz to gypsy funk, from oriental hip-hop to anatolian blues.
This CD comes with a bonus video: Kuşu Kalkmaz by Sultana, which has a peculiar history in Turkey. As the location for the video a club in Beyoglu (Olympia pavyonu) was chosen. After various TV channels aired it, RTUK (Radio Television Overseeing Committee) decided the lyrics and content of the video were explicit (or, in their terms, that they "offended the prevalent morality, reigning peace, and the Turkish family values"). This decision was followed by a shutdown of three channels (Star, Show and Kral TV), and the issuance of a warning for another (Number One TV). Kuşu Kalkmaz is a song from Sultana's album Çerkez Kızı.

Thank you for making your website so user-friendly. I am an American who loves Turkey & anything pertaining to her. I just bought my first phone card and I am anxious to use it (and will do so shortly!). Your instructions and information was read quickly and easily and I have had no problems getting around the different pages; ie, community, ordering, information, browsing, etc. I am set up with my own account so I can access your community forum to find out how I can live/work/study in my beloved Turkey. Thanks again for a great website... Sincerely.
