Suryoyo Belgeseli bir gündoğumundan, günbatımına, Mardin'in eşsiz mekanlarında, artık sayıca çok azalan Süryani cemaatinin özel bir gününün, Aziz Mihayel yortusunun öyküsüdür. Bu bir gün öyküsü içinde, 5000 yıldır bu topraklarda yaşayan, Hıristiyanlığı toplu halde kabul eden ilk halk olan, Süryani insanlarının inançları, kültürü, tarihi; taş oymacılığı, gümüş işçiliği (telkari), basmacılık gibi sanatları, bu sanatların son birkaç temsilcisinin de bir günü anlatıldı. 92 yaşındaki eski dokumacı Merin Hanım'ın, 85 yaşındaki basmacı Nasra Şimeshindi'nin, gümüş telkariler yapan son nesilden Gevriye Usta'nın, son taş işleme yapı ustası Gebro Çevik'in, binlerce yıldan süzülüp gelen yaşantılarından, uğraşlarından kesitler verildi. Belgeselin amacı son yüzyıldır süren ama son on yılda çok hızlanan göç sonucu artık "Anadolu'nun solan bir rengi" haline gelen Süryanilere, ve onlar gibi bu topraklardan yok olmaması gereken kültürleri, en azından gelecek nesillere aktarabilmektir.

For Over 5000 years the beliefs and cultural traditions of the syriacs have continued to live on in their holy land, located in the southeastern anatolian region of Turkey, as one of the first people to accept christianity, they played a prominent role in the promulgation of this world religion. The syriac culture should be revered as a Universal heritage that has enabled the language of jesus christ to survive to this day unfortunately, for many years this culture has been overlooked, and the circumstancel which have forced their migration from their homeland in mesopotamia are growiing increasingly severe, causing a rapid diminishment of their presence in the region. The Suryoyo documentary tells the story of the syriacs by showing the saint Michael's day celebraitons of the remaining small syriac community in the unparalled locations in Mardin from sunrise to sunset. With in the story of this one day, the beliefs, culture and history of the syriacs; their artisanry in the areas of stone carving, silver working and cloth printing; and the story of one day in the lives of the last few remaining artisans of these crafts was described segments from the lives and works of the 92 year old former weaver ms. merin the 85 year old cloth printer Nasra Şimeshindi one of the last generation silver work mastercraftsman gevriye and the last master stone carver Gebro Çevik seem to drift to us through the millenia.
