Cini & Porcelain | | Çini Ceramic Products
The Turkish history of the art of çini (pronounced "chee – ney") started in the Ottoman palatial circles in the 15th century as a natural response to the dominant Chinese production of ceramic and
porcelain. However, what started as a broad imitation soon evolved into unique patterns and colors in the Ottoman period, and refined to its perfection in the 16th century. There are still many masters who continue this tradition, and produced excellent work such as plates, bowls, vases, and jars. The çini production is a precarious process and small undetectable imperfections in the material may easily ruin days of a master's labor. We carry works of the top of the line Kütahya Porselen as well as the finest masters in this field:
İsmail Yiğit, and Nurten & Ahmet Şahin.
