Ney yada Nay (fars.ney, nay) Müzik:Türk, İran ve Arap müziklerinde kullanılan başlıca üflemeli çalgı Boğum yerleriaçılan kamışa belli aralıklarla, altısı önde olmak üzere yedi delik açılarak yapılan çalgının, üflenen ucuna genellikle boynuzdan yada fildişinden konik bir başpare takılır.Kamışın dokuz boğumlu olmasına dikkat edilir.Diğerleri tümüyle en üstteki boğum ise yarım açılır.Kamışın her iki ucuna, çatlamaması için parazvane denilen madeni yüzükler takılır.Ses alanı üç oktava yakındır.En pes sekizlideki seslere dem sesleri adı verilir.Çalgı yaklaşık 45 derecelik bir açıyla tutularak çalınır.Doğu müziğine özgü sesleri elde etmek için delikleri perdelerde, baş hafifçe eğilerek bulunur.Mevlevi müziğinin kudüm ile birlikte iki ana çalgısından biri olan ve mevlevilerce kutsal sayılan ney, dindışı müzikte de yaygındır.
Çeşitli boyda neyler vardır.Bunlar özel adlar taşırlar(pesten tize doğru: Bolahenk, davut, bunlar Türk müziğindeki akordların (ahenklerin) da adıdır.Yedisinin temel sesi natural sesleri beşinin ki de diyezli sesler olan 12 boy ney vardır.Temel sesi diyezli bir ses olan neylere mabeyn denir.Bu 12 çeşit neyin, boyu yarı yarıya kısa olan nisfiyeleride vardır.Bolahenk, davul gibi çok uzun ve çalması çok zor olan neylerin daha çok nisfiyeleri kullanılır.

The Nay the history of which is thousands of years old, Is equarted with Hazrat Mawlana E Jalaleddin Rumi.it's been used in classical Turkish music and sofi music for centuries and has the deepest impact on people .it has the lament of longing.Though its simple appearance it's surprising that this dry reed has sentimental sound.
The Nay is a symbol of the matured man.Just as the reed being torn from the bog and dried, then the holes were made bye a special knife, the lovers of god have a process through many a dangerous trials and seek to reach the True Being, Allah, the Almighty .The clasiccal Turkish poets used it in metaphors about it, its origin and its sound.
The Nay is the only wind instrument of cour clasiccal music, it's made of a kind of reed called "kargy'' This, the from hot climates are preferned.in the past, the nayzans(nayzan:the person who plays "the nay'' used to bring reeds from Hejaz district.in our country the most appropriate kindy of reed are in Samandagy Antakya.
The nays of diffrent lengths are according to their tunes.There are seven frets on it.All the nays have nine short knots.To have a fine style for playing the nay first of al one should learn the style of playing (or blowing) The most important part of the nay is the head (baspare) It's made of ivory or horns.The wooden ones are not preferable.
